How to Wax Your Chain:
Step-by-Step Method
Step 1: Ensure the chain is dry and clean, free from oil and dirt. For new chains, remove all factory lubricant.
Step 2: Place the dry chain into the Speedmaster Wax Metal Can. Add water to a pot (approximately 1 inch tall) and place the wax can into the pot. Bring the water to a boil using the double boiler method.
Step 3: Once the wax is melted, reduce the heat to simmer and submerge the chain for about 10 minutes.
Step 4: Turn off the heat and remove the chain from the wax can. Upon installation, rotate the chain a few times to loosen the wax for optimal break-in.
How to Re-Apply Wax to Your Waxed Chain:
Methods for Re-application
Easiest Method: Repeat the steps to re-apply wax to an already waxed chain. This is the easiest method; however, all the grime will be extracted into the wax can and collect at the bottom. Dispose of the wax can once it turns completely blackened.
Clean Method: Prior to re-bathing the chain in wax, thoroughly clean it using one of the following methods:
